volume 2 – Mel Lamacraft – fashion, lifestyle and beauty blogger, designer
girls girls girls is an ongoing interview series, where I get my favourite female creatives, currently doing their thing, to answer the same overly simple twelve questions. Bloggers, writers, artists, photographers, performance makers, musicians – the aim is to get a diverse collection of all levels of experience and field, and show off a little of their work at the same time.
If you’d like to be a part of it, or know someone that could get on board, send me an email using the contact form on this blog! Otherwise, if you see or read something that you connect with, I urge you to get a hold of the talented lady herself. Making it in the creative world is hella tricky, so if you like it, say something!

1.What do you do?
I study textile design at uni, and blog here and there.
2. What’s something that inspired you to do what you’re doing now?
Cath Kidston is my biggest inspiration. She’s the reason I’m doing what I am today, as well as a couple of my uni friends who gave me the confidence and motivation to keep it going and start a blog.
3. What’s something that has inspired you recently?
I am inspired every day by the people I meet and the people that I speak to. Recently, working alongside a friend of mine, Chanel Joan Elkayam, has inspired me massively!
4. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
So I’m not actually sure, I love living in London, but I would also love to live in LA.
5. Where did you grow up and what was it like?
I grew up in London, Essex, and I LOVE it. I do aim to move away from here in the future but I had the best childhood, being able to go anywhere by bus or train meant I could be so independent growing up.
6. Who do you look up to and why?
Like I previously mentioned, Cath Kidston has been my inspiration and is the reason for where I am today.
7. What are you listening to lately?
So I’ve been loving Ed Sheeran’s new album, I’ve had it on repeat for the last 3 weeks haha.
8. When, where or how are you happiest?
Right now, doing what I love doing, Meeting people, working with people, exploring the world, going to uni. I have never been as happy as I am today.
9. Why do you do what you do?
Because I love it. I love being creative in so many various ways. Blogging lets me explore things from makeup, to fashion, to design and lifestyles.
I also hope to help people, whether that’s those that are dyslexic, or those starting up a business, to just those wanting to be in the same career.
10. What makes it hard?
The acceptance of failure.
11. What makes it easy?
Working with others, collaborating with companies and other people. Having gratitude.
12. Where can we find you?
You can usually find me strolling around London!
